DEMOS researchers Fruzsina Gárdos-Orosz and Zoltán Szente (Centre for Social Sciences, Budapest), will take part in the first international conference of the Project Popcon (Populist Constitutionalism) of the Airstotle University of Thessaloniki Law School.

The conference, which brings several scholars to explore the many facets of populist constitutionalism, will kick off today (May 7) at 11:45 AM (CEST) via Zoom application. Registration is free through this link.

Tomorrow (May 8), at 1:45 pm (CEST), Gárdos-Orosz and Szente will present on populist challenges to constitutional interpretation in Europe. "If populist constitutionalism is a real phenomenon with certain common features, it will certainly have an effect on previous, well-developed ways of constitutional interpretation," the authors say.

"We will explain in our presentation how and where this influence can be traced in constitutional judicial practice of interpretation in the European countries."
